Held in Hangzhou from October 29 to 31, the national final of the Inaugural Digital Innovation in Catering and Culinary Skills Competition (University Group) witnessed our college’s three teams from the School of Culinary Arts win one gold and two silver medals, with the gold-medal team ranking first nationwide. The college was awarded the Excellent Organization Award and the Best Organization Award. The National Industry-Education Integration Consortium for Modern Catering, led by our college and serving as a co-organizer of the contest, received the Competition Support Award.

Recognized by the Preparatory Committee for the BRICS Leaders’ Meeting, endorsed by competent departments of China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and approved by the BRICS Business Council, this international competition launched the catering digital innovation and culinary track for the first time this year.

A total of 113 teams with over 300 participants from 17 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities took part. Competitors selected one business format from local snacks, full-course meals, noodles and staple foods, or light meals, to deliver business planning, digital store operation presentations and product development, assessing students’ capacity to translate ideas into viable commercial solutions.

Guided by the industry-education principle of “Enterprises set questions, schools and enterprises collaborate on solutions, and the market evaluates outcomes”, our team demonstrated outstanding achievements in teaching reform.

The School of Culinary Arts will further integrate professional training with industrial demands across the full chain of “ideation, planning, operation, production and implementation”, to cultivate versatile, application-oriented and innovative talents for the digital catering sector.
