The students achieved good results in 2024 China-ASEAN Culinary Skills Competition for Vocational College Students

The 2024 China-ASEAN Culinary Skills Competition for Vocational College Students was held in Nanning, Guangxi from 29th to 31st October, hosted by the Department of Education of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and the Hong Kong Vocational Training Council, and organised by Nanning Vocational and Technical University and the Guigang Modern Vocational Education Development Centre.

There were more than one hundred competitors from 22 vocational colleges and universities from China and ASEAN countries competing in five competitions, including Chinese cooking, Western cooking, food carving, innovative pastry and group booth design.

The school set up a team with Ren Chuansheng and Chen Peng as instructors, focusing on the theme direction of proactively connecting with the service of the ‘The Belt&Road’ Initiative, examining the evaluation criteria of the competition, and pushing forward the style of dish design, and finally achieved excellent results.

The school students performed well and won 3 second prizes and 2 third prizes. Among them, the school team won the second prize of the group, Huang Guowen and Zhang Ning won the second prize of the food carving and western cooking competitions respectively, and Li Mingrui and Li Changru won the third prize of the Chinese cooking and innovative pastry competitions respectively.

The award fully demonstrated the excellent style of the students, which is of positive significance to the school's catering profession to build an international brand and promote the inheritance and development of traditional culinary skills and food culture.
