On January 4th, the 2025 Qingdao Tourism Hotel Industry Employee Service Skills Competition, sponsored by the Qingdao Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism and hosted by the college, kicked off at HUALUXE Hotels & Resorts Qingdao Licang.
In his opening speech, Han Xiqing, President of the college, stated that adhering to the college motto of Diligence, Sincerity, Smartness and Elegance, the college had made meticulous preparations and provided full support with a strong sense of responsibility and professional organizational capabilities. These efforts ensured the competition proceeded to high standards and quality, aiming to turn it into a top-tier industry event for showcasing professional skills and facilitating exchanges and mutual learning.

Han Dajun, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Director of the Qingdao Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, as well as Director of the Qingdao Municipal Comprehensive Administrative Law Enforcement Bureau for Culture Market, delivered a speech and announced the official opening of the competition.
Han Dajun emphasized that skilled talents are a vital pillar for the high-quality development of the tourism industry. He expressed his hope that the competition would inspire employees across the industry to deepen their professional knowledge and enhance their technical skills, thereby injecting new impetus into Qingdao’s construction of a Vibrant Ocean Metropolis and a Charming Livable City.
The competition aims to promote the craftsmanship spirit of pursuing excellence, sets service benchmarks for the industry, and drives the overall improvement of service standards in Qingdao’s tourism hotel sector. It comprises four major events: Front Office Reception, Chinese-style Bed Making, Chinese Banquet Table Setting, and Western Banquet Table Setting. These events comprehensively assessed the contestants’ overall capabilities, including professional skills, service procedures, English communication proficiency, and appearance and grooming standards.
The competition was conducted in strict accordance with the principles of openness, fairness and impartiality, with on-site evaluations carried out by a panel of authoritative experts from both the industry and academic institutions.
During the competition, the contestants demonstrated proficient operational skills, solid foundational expertise and a professional attitude of striving for excellence. The smooth communication in reception services, the standardized and efficient bed making in guest rooms, and the artistic creativity in Chinese and Western banquet table settings all reflected the excellent professional quality and competence of employees in Qingdao’s tourism hotel industry.
Contestants from 53 hotels including Qingdao Seaview Garden Hotel were awarded individual prizes in different events, while 6 hotels including Qingdao Fuxin Building claimed the group awards. The college, together with HUALUXE Hotels & Resorts Qingdao Licang, was honored with the Outstanding Contribution Award for their remarkable performance in event organization and service support.
Taking this competition as an opportunity, we will further deepen school-enterprise cooperation and the integration of industry and education. We will closely align our professional development with the needs of the industry, cultivate more high-quality technical and skilled talents for Qingdao’s tourism service sector, and make sustained contributions to the transformation, upgrading and high-quality development of the industry.
