MGM Qingdao and the college co-host immersive Spring Festival intangible cultural heritage feast

From the first to the seventh day of the Chinese New Year (the Year of the Horse), the Art School of the college joined hands with MGM Qingdao to launch an immersive intangible cultural heritage (ICH) experience event themed Intangible Heritage Greets the Spring · Ingenuity Inherits Charm.

Adhering to the integration of industry and education philosophy of Enterprises put forward questions, colleges and enterprises jointly answer them, and the market evaluates the results, the event was led by the faculty and student team of the Art College. Relying on the professional strengths of Environmental Art Design, Digital Media Art Design, Product Art Design and other majors, the team accurately met the cultural needs of high-end hotels, promoting the organic integration of ICH skills and high-end hotel scenarios.

The team achieved full-process professional output in links such as event planning, visual design, experience arrangement and cultural and creative product development, building a new model of industry-education integration featuring majors empowering business and culture feeding back the industry.

During the event, the Art School carefully selected and invited seven local ICH inheritors, and organized faculty and student teams to deeply participate in the design of skill presentation, the planning of immersive experiences and the creative transformation of cultural and creative derivatives. With professional capabilities, the team helped enhance the cultural connotation and brand recognition of the hotel, and promoted the living inheritance and market value transformation of ICH.

One ICH skill was featured each day. Combining modern aesthetics and communication rules, teachers and students participated in creative arrangement, creating a visible, playable and experienceable Spring Festival cultural feast.

On the first day of the Chinese New Year, Li Wenling, a municipal ICH inheritor, presented Auspicious Paper-Cutting to Welcome the Spring. Teachers and students assisted in designing paper-cuts with roundel and steed patterns, symbolizing family reunion and good luck.

On the second day, Zhang Wei, an ICH inheritor from Shibei District, carried out Braided Ropes for Blessings. Teachers and students participated in the shape design of braided rope accessories to convey good wishes.

On the third day, Wang Lei, an inheritor of Jiaodong hydrangea, demonstrated Hydrangea Brings Good Fortune. Teachers and students helped improve the craft of copper coin pattern gourd hydrangea, highlighting the folk customs of Jiaodong.

On the fourth day, Zang Chenglong, an ICH inheritor, showed the pottery craft Fall in Love with Pottery, and the cultural and creative team of the college developed pottery souvenirs.

On the fifth day, Jiang Yutao, a provincial ICH inheritor, brought Colorful Puppets Welcome Auspiciousness. Teachers and students participated in the arrangement and interaction of puppet shows to convey joy and well-being.

On the sixth day, Zhou Mingming, a municipal craft master, demonstrated Honey Blowing Art, and student volunteers assisted in experience guidance to convey blessings of a sweet life.

On the seventh day, Liu Zhulian, a provincial ICH inheritor, presented Flower Steamed Buns Celebrate the Spring. Teachers and students designed flower steamed buns in the shapes of auspicious horses and blessing bags, symbolizing good luck in the Year of the Horse and a bumper harvest.

This event is a in-depth integration of the college’s professional teaching and social services, as well as a vivid practice in serving the upgrading of local cultural and tourism industries.

Through the full-process planning and implementation by teachers and students, it helped the enterprise enhance its cultural service brand and market competitiveness. It inherits traditional culture with ingenuity, makes ICH glow with new vitality in modern commercial spaces, and vividly demonstrates the solid achievements of the college’s professional construction and talent training, injecting vocational education innovation momentum into local economic and cultural development.
