We win Gold Medal at the 2025 World Vocational College Skills Final Competition


 

The 2025 World Vocational College Skills Final Competition for the higher vocational college group of the food and beverage track were held at Liaoning Modern Service Vocational and Technical College from September 8th to 12th.

The participating team from the college, composed of students Zhang Lu, Zhang Jianing, Yang Xinru, and Huang Xu from the School of Culinary Arts, won the gold medal. Teachers Liu Junxin and Wang Qingquan were awarded the title of Excellent Instructors.

The college's entry, Poetry, Rites, and Cooking Smoke Across Mountains and Seas – The Revival Path of Intangible Cultural Heritage Cuisine, adheres to the concept of industry-education integration of enterprises set questions, schools and enterprises jointly answer them, and the market evaluates them. With intangible cultural heritage food culture as the core and the purpose of welcoming guests from all over the world with courtesy and spreading Oriental philosophy through flavors, it constructs a new paradigm for the international expression of intangible cultural heritage cuisine by preserving cultural heritage, revitalizing traditional techniques, breaking down standard barriers, and empowering industrial upgrading.

During the competition, the team remained calm, had clear division of labor, and cooperated tacitly. They demonstrated a profound understanding of the essence of food culture, the science of nutritious meals, the beauty of culinary art, and the ultimate flavors of daily life, which are characteristic of the reserve talents of young craftsmen cultivated by the college. With solid technical skills, excellent on-site performance, and seamless teamwork, they achieved outstanding results.

Taking this competition as an opportunity, the School of Culinary Arts will closely align with the new trends in the development of the catering industry, connect the supply and demand channels for talent cultivation through the competition venue – classroom – enterprise link, deepen education and teaching reforms, strengthen the construction of the teaching staff, innovate talent training models, continuously inject new momentum into the development of catering vocational education, and serve the high-quality development of the modern catering industry and regional economy.


About World Vocational College Skills Competition

The World Vocational College Skills Competition, upgraded from the National Vocational College Skills Competition, is a public welfare and international comprehensive skills competition for vocational colleges, sponsored by the Ministry of Education in conjunction with national ministries, commissions, and public institutions.

It is the largest and most influential comprehensive skills event in China's vocational education field and the highest platform for testing the educational and teaching achievements and talent training quality of vocational colleges.

The food and beverage track  attracted 169 teams consisting of over 1,100 teachers and students from 31 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions across the country. Focusing on three major job groups in the catering industry, namely raw material processing, product production, operation management and service, it comprehensively assesses contestants' on-site performance and adaptability, nutritional matching and accounting ability, professional operation and research and development ability across multiple dimensions including cooking skills, nutritional meal preparation, catering services, innovation and creativity, and teamwork.
