The 29th China International Fisheries Expo was held in Qingdao from October 28 to 30. Hosted by the Agricultural Trade Promotion Center of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and Global Aquaculture Alliance Exhibits, teachers and students from our Culinary School were invited to join activities of the Canadian Pavilion.

The team set up a dedicated culinary demonstration area to develop and promote seafood dishes from Canada. They introduced Canadian seafood to Chinese and foreign visitors through tasting sessions and cooking demonstrations.

Joanne Thompson, Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard, visited the booth, watched the live cooking show and co-prepared special seafood dishes with the team. She spoke highly of the developed recipes and remarked that the event helps Chinese consumers discover Canadian seafood and builds a “tasty bridge” for China-Canada fisheries trade.

As one of the world’s leading aquatic trade events, the expo attracted 1,617 exhibitors from 50 countries and regions. It covers the whole industrial chain including seafood, fry and feed, aquaculture, processing, equipment and cold-chain logistics, showing China’s willingness to share fisheries development and pursue global cooperation.

The School of Culinary Arts will uphold mutual learning and win-win cooperation. By engaging in international expos and school-enterprise collaborative innovation, it will cultivate high-caliber technical talents with professional skills and an international vision.
