Our college was invited to the 27th China International Education Annual Conference to discuss new pathways for the international development of vocational education.

Held in Beijing from October 29 to 31, the conference focused on hot topics including international exchanges and cooperation in vocational education, industry-education integration and vocational education going global. It assembled representatives from education authorities, colleges and enterprises worldwide for dialogue, resource matching and practical cooperation.

Diao Hongbin, Secretary of the College Party Committee, and Han Xiqing, President of the college, attended the conference. They exchanged experience on opening-up of vocational education, expanded international partnerships and introduced the college’s achievements and vision for international schooling.

At the parallel forum on new pathways for international vocational education cooperation amid global industrial upgrading, Diao Hongbin delivered a keynote speech entitled Small yet Beautiful, Connecting a Grand Future — Reflections on Industry-Education Integration and International Cooperation. He stated that rooted in the open city of Qingdao, the college has specialized in modern service education for 81 years and pursued distinctive, sustainable international development.

Responding to global industrial changes, the college adapts to the shift from one-way output to two-way mutual learning and from sporadic exchanges to systematic co-construction. Supported by four pillars — Chinese + vocational skills resources, international teacher development, Chinese culinary culture promotion and two-way student and staff exchanges — the college develops modular courses to build people-to-people bonds.

Guided by the philosophy of “enterprises raise questions, schools and enterprises jointly find solutions and the market assesses outcomes”, it translates strengths in industry-education integration into solid competitiveness for international collaboration.

Diao Hongbin stressed that “small yet beautiful” does not mean trivial efforts. Instead, it focuses on distinctive strengths and practical demands to create replicable, implementable cooperation models, calling for joint efforts with global partners.

Han Xiqing joined the roundtable discussion themed Digital Technologies Empowering Connectivity in Vocational Education. He noted that Qingdao boasts remarkable opening-up advantages and a solid modern service industry foundation, which support the college’s international development.

As a vocational college featuring hospitality management, culinary arts and tourism, the college prioritizes internationalization in its internal development. It keeps improving its international layout and consolidates platforms such as the Chinese + vocational skills programme, overseas internship and employment, and staff-student exchanges.

Committed to nurturing international talents equipped with professional skills and cross-cultural competence, the college upgrades curricula against international industry standards and meets local talent demands of overseas institutions and Chinese enterprises, advancing practical projects including co-developed majors, joint training bases and collaborative talent cultivation.

Han Xiqing hoped to take this opportunity to expand the college’s global network and explore tailored cooperation models to lift its international influence and facilitate high-quality opening-up of modern service vocational education.

During the conference, the delegation took part in the Study in Shandong session. It negotiated with multiple overseas colleges and domestic vocational education cooperation institutions on co-development of Chinese + vocational skills resources, short-term study tours, overseas internship bases and joint training of featured majors. The delegation introduced the college’s strengths, programmes, the Banmo Academy and international student education, reaching preliminary cooperation intentions and laying a foundation for regular substantive collaboration.

Our college has been listed among the Top 50 Chinese Higher Vocational Colleges for International Influence and Top 50 Asia-Pacific Vocational Colleges for International Influence, and selected for the China-ASEAN Flagship Programme for 100 Strong Vocational School Partnerships. It has made fruitful progress in Chinese + skills curriculum development, international skills competitions and people-to-people exchanges.

The college will follow the “Small yet Beautiful, Connecting a Grand Future” strategy. Relying on distinctive majors and industry-education integration, it will steadily advance high-level international exchanges, raise the international profile of talent training and share the story of the college’s practice in Chinese vocational education.
