On November 2, the college held the inauguration ceremony of the China-Australia Smart Service Industry Institute and its first Joint Management Committee meeting.

At the ceremony, Diao Hongbin, Secretary of the College Party Committee, delivered a welcome address. He noted that the College Party Committee attaches great importance to the development of the Industry Institute and has set up a special working group to coordinate its preparation, student recruitment and teaching operation. Taking this opportunity, the college will pool high-quality resources to align curricula, develop teachers and ensure quality management, so as to guarantee the smooth launch of its first intake in 2027.

Grant Radford, Principal and CEO of Box Hill Institute, delivered a speech. He said that during the application process, he was deeply impressed by the college’s efficient and pragmatic work style and professional execution. The well-equipped training facilities, curriculum system and teaching faculty lay a solid foundation for in-depth cooperation. Box Hill Institute will designate the Industry Institute as a key international cooperation project. It will keep investing in joint curriculum development, faculty exchange and teaching standard alignment, shift the cooperation focus from institutional launch to substantive development, and jointly cultivate internationally competitive skilled talents.

Afterwards, Han Xiqing, President of the college, and Grant Radford unveiled the plaque for the China-Australia Smart Service Industry College.

Following the unveiling ceremony, the first Joint Management Committee meeting was convened. Both sides discussed issues including the 2027 recruitment plan, teaching arrangements, teacher training and training facilities. They agreed on meeting rules and communication channels, established a consultation and supervision mechanism, and clarified the responsibilities of the working group and the Joint Management Committee to support standardized operation.

Grant Radford and his delegation visited the training venues of relevant schools to inspect the school-running conditions and jointly recorded a recruitment promotional video. This event defined the operational framework and phased tasks of the Industry Institute. Relying on the Joint Management Committee platform, the college will further deepen cooperation with Box Hill Institute in standard introduction, joint curriculum development and staff-student exchanges to deliver more fruitful outcomes for China-Australia vocational education collaboration.
