The founding ceremony and project kick-off meeting of the China-Equatorial Guinea Djibloho Vocational School Operation Consortium was held in Jining on October 18. Our college was elected a vice-chairman unit, and Vice President Jiang Lingling attended the event.
Co-sponsored by Shandong Provincial Department of Education, China Nonferrous Metals Industry Talent Center and the Ministry of Labor and Employment Promotion of Equatorial Guinea, the activity implements outcomes of the 3rd World Conference on Vocational and Technical Education.
Representatives from Chinese and Equatorial Guinean government authorities, vocational colleges and Chinese-funded enterprises overseas discussed joint school operation, teacher dispatch, training facility upgrading and overseas training for local teachers, following the principle of “Equatorial Guinea taking the lead, China providing support; joint overseas development with complementary strengths”.
Djibloho Vocational School is a key Chinese-aided livelihood project and a landmark practice of Shandong vocational education going global. The consortium launch marks the full implementation of the “infrastructure aid plus operational empowerment” model. It will cultivate local skilled talent, deepen people-to-people bonds between China and Equatorial Guinea, and boost high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative.
As a vice-chairman unit, our college takes the lead in constructing hotel management and tourism majors, which fit well with Equatorial Guinea’s tourism development. We have finished preliminary work: training teachers with cross-cultural competence, preparing training equipment, developing Spanish courses, and arranging on-the-job training for Equatorial Guinean teachers on campus.
Going forward, we will leverage our strengths in tourism and hotel management, adhere to government-college-enterprise collaboration and international integration. We will tailor courses to local culture and corporate job demands, and cooperate with sister colleges and overseas enterprises on teacher development, textbook compilation and joint training. We will keep delivering high-quality local service talent, build Shandong’s brand of vocational education overseas, and contribute to building a closer China-Africa community with a shared future.
