The 2026 Qingdao Red Cross Volunteer Service Project Exhibition & Exchange was held recently. The project Aviation & Tourism Ingenuity · Safe Care with Professional Skills, a public welfare program of professional emergency rescue for colleges submitted by our School of Hospitality Management, won the second prize.

This marks the best performance among participating universities in Qingdao and fully demonstrates the effectiveness of our distinctive education model of “Major plus First Aid”.

Targeting emergency response requirements of aviation and tourism posts and addressing the weakness of traditional first-aid volunteer activities that prioritize publicity over practical training, the project establishes a professional emergency rescue public welfare system for high-risk service scenarios such as cabin crew and cruise services.

With guidance from the college clinic and faculty members, the team designed the first-aid training system. Relying on the on-campus master teacher studio and a 600-square-meter first-aid training base, a multi-disciplinary teaching team was formed. First-aid courses have been integrated into the talent training program to build multi-level practical platforms.

Up to now, the base has offered more than 60 training sessions. Over 1,600 teachers and students have obtained first-aid certificates, and nearly 4,000 have acquired CPR certificates, with the college’s first-aid certification rate exceeding 30%. From 2024 to 2026, the team won six first prizes in provincial first-aid competitions. It has consecutively claimed the Group First Prize in the University Group A of Shandong Provincial School First Aid Skills Competition and the Group First Prize of Qingdao Emergency Rescue Competition.

The project actively participates in Qingdao’s people’s livelihood initiatives. Several volunteers acted bravely to save lives on site, and their stories were covered by mainstream media. Our college has been recognized as a national pilot institution for school first-aid education by the Ministry of Education and an outstanding unit for Red Cross emergency rescue work in Shandong Province. Its practices have been published and promoted by China Red Cross News.

This award represents a milestone in the high-quality development of our Red Cross volunteer services. The School of Hospitality Management will further advance the “Major plus First Aid” education model, integrate teaching resources, expand the Red Cross volunteer team, build a benchmark for college professional emergency rescue services, and contribute our strength to the Healthy China Initiative.
