The final contest of the Tourism Track (Higher Vocational Group) of the 2026 World Vocational Colleges Skills Competition was held in Shanghai from 27 to 30 September.

The competition was divided into Group 1 and Group 2 for higher vocational colleges. The team from the School of Hospitality Management (Jia Yunfei, Jiang Xiran, Song Yanxuan, Yao Jiaqi) won the gold medal in Group 2. The team from the School of Culture and Tourism (Xu Yishi, Sun Leyu, Wei Hong, Zhu Fangying) took the silver medal in Group 1.

Guided by the industry–education integration philosophy of industry raising the question, university and enterprise answering together, and market grading the result, the two teams delivered outstanding projects.

The gold-awarded project Xianju Minsu, Smart Renewal — Operation Practice of Minsu Research and Innovation Base is based on a provincial Minsu(Boutique hotel) research base. To tackle common problems including outdated marketing, monotonous products and weak management, the team built a self-developed Minsu operation platform and a one workshop, two centers framework. Integrated with AI tools, product development and new media marketing, the project helps Minsu cut costs and boost revenue with good replicability.

The silver-awarded project Revival of the Six Arts — Development of Multimodal AI Immersive Study-tour Products adopts the core IP of Chinese Six Arts. Leveraging study-tour large models, data analysis and VR interaction, it creates immersive cultural products, promotes digital inheritance of traditional culture and cultivates versatile talents for study-tour services.

Covering accommodation, study tours and tour guiding, the tourism track aligns with real job requirements in the tourism industry. Altogether 128 teams competed in Group 1 and 48 teams in Group 2. Hosted by the Ministry of Education, the World Vocational Colleges Skills Competition is a non-profit international comprehensive vocational education event.

This achievement marks another milestone in integrating industry and education as well as competition and teaching for our hospitality and tourism majors. The college will draw on competition experience, embed competition standards into talent training, and further implement the philosophy of promoting learning, training and teaching through competitions. We will cultivate versatile skilled talents with professional service skills, digital operation capabilities and creative planning competence to advance high-quality major development.
