To build a campus culture of reading and explore Qilu cultural heritage, the school-level competition of 2026 Shandong "Reading Classics Paying Tribute to Sages" Situational Reading Creative Contest was held in the academic lecture hall on September 17.
Entries from the School of Hotel Engineering and the School of Culture and Tourism won the first prize.
Hosted by Shandong Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, the provincial competition includes a college student group and an adult group.
Co-organized by the college Youth League Committee and the Education Information Center, the school contest selected 11 teams after preliminary screening by each school.
Adopting the innovative form of classic reading + situational performance, contestants used music, costumes, props and lighting to combine timeless classics and stories of Shandong ancient sages. They vividly interpreted the essence of classics and the noble spirit of sages, promoting positive values and fine traditional culture.
After the contest, judges gave detailed comments on text revision, historical verification and the ratio of reading to performance. They advised contestants to stay true to original texts, check historical materials carefully and balance reading and acting to improve authenticity and depth of works.
Vice President Gong Enlong fully praised the contestants’ performances in his closing speech. He stated that the event helps fulfill the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education and advance the comprehensive reform of holistic education. It selects outstanding works for the provincial contest and echoes the college’s philosophy of practical education and industry-education integration. He encouraged students to gain wisdom from classics, strengthen cultural confidence and grow into capable young people with both moral integrity and professional skills.
