On September 13, the college held the summary and commendation ceremony for freshmen military training at the stadium. The event inspected training outcomes and honored outstanding groups and individuals.
Diao Hongbin, Secretary of the Party Committee,President Han Xiqing and other college leaders attended the event. Vice President Gong Enlong presided over the ceremony. Heads of all schools and departments, counselors and all freshmen were present.
The ceremony kicked off with the solemn national anthem. Under the arrangement of instructors, freshmen completed assessments including formation drills, tactics and basic combat training. With standard movements and loud slogans, they demonstrated solid training results and the vitality of young people in the new era.
Marking the 90th anniversary of the victory of the Red Army’s Long March, Diao Hongbin delivered the “First Lesson of the Semester” for freshmen. Centered on the great Long March spirit, he interpreted its historical connotation and contemporary value. He encouraged students to carry the perseverance gained from military training into study and life, uphold the college motto “Diligence,Sincerity, Smartness and Elegance” and college ethos “Love, Strength and Responsibility”, and embrace challenges bravely. The college presented a silk banner to the training unit to express gratitude for its support.
Vice President Jiang Lingling read out the commendation notice. She hoped awardees would keep making progress and all students would learn from models, strengthen self-discipline and carry forward fine styles in future study.
Li Yuxuan, freshman representative from the School of Hospitality Management, shared her experience. She said military training built willpower and collective awareness, calling on peers to abide by the college motto and ethos, master professional skills and live up to youth.
During the training, freshmen overcame hardships and finished all tasks. The training unit conducted scientific training and set a good example. This military training is precious spiritual wealth, inspiring freshmen to start their college journey with full enthusiasm.
