The grand opening ceremony and military training mobilization meeting for the freshmen of class 2026 was held at the college stadium on August 31. More than 5,000 new students from across the country gathered to embark on their brand-new college journey.

The ceremony commenced with the solemn national anthem. A flag-awarding ceremony for the freshman military training regiment was held on site. Diao Hongbin, Secretary of the College Party Committee, presented the regiment flag to the representative of the training unit, officially kicking off the 2026 freshman military training.

President Han Xiging delivered a speech to extend a warm welcome to all freshmen. Taking the Three Questions of Nankai as the starting point, he reviewed the college’s 81-year educational heritage and fruitful achievements, interpreted its original aspiration and spiritual connotation of running education, and encouraged freshmen to inherit the college’s fine spirits, foster patriotism, polish professional capabilities, take solid steps, forge ahead bravely, and fulfill their youthful mission of contributing to the country in the new era.
Representatives of freshman parents, teachers, new students and military instructors delivered speeches successively.

Sun Xin,the parent representative, praised the college’s educational characteristics and promised to cooperate with the college in home-school co-education.

Xu Wensu, teacher representative from the School of Hospitality Management, encouraged freshmen to cultivate morality, study diligently, pursue innovation, hone professional skills and inherit the craftsmanship spirit, wishing them a promising college life.

Liang Yao, a freshman majoring in Big Data and Financial Management from the School of Accounting, pledged to abide by the college motto, pursue diligent and pragmatic study, integrate morality and skills, and strive to become high-quality technical and skilled talents.
The military instructor representative stated that the training would be conducted in a scientific, standardized and safe manner to ensure quality and safety, and expected freshmen to abide by disciplines, train hard and cultivate a sense of responsibility, solidarity and perseverance.

In his concluding speech, Gong Enlong hoped that all freshmen would strictly observe military training disciplines, temper their willpower through rigorous training, successfully complete the military training, and achieve academic progress and all-round growth in college.
It is reported that in accordance with the Syllabus of Military Courses in General Institutions of Higher Education, this military training will integrate military knowledge learning, military skill training, enrollment education and national defense education. It will also standardize students’ daily behaviors and dormitory management, helping freshmen develop good habits and adapt to college life quickly.
