To implement the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, consolidate the foundation of the counselor team, and support the launch of the college’s 10th Five-Year Plan and the construction of a vocational undergraduate university, the college recently organized the 2026 Summer Training for Counselor Quality and Competency Improvement. Integrating the inauguration of the Counselor Development Institute, special training sessions, and the work deployment for the new semester, the event comprehensively promotes the high-quality development of student affairs.
President Han Xiqing pointed out that the training is a key measure to strengthen the educational team, empower high-quality college development and advance the overall layout of the 10th Five-Year Plan. He stated that the training serves not only as a classroom for professional improvement but also as a platform for peer communication and mutual learning. He encouraged all counselors to cherish the learning opportunity, integrate knowledge with practice, balance daily student management and personal professional growth, and realize career values in the process of guiding and nurturing young students.

In response to the key work arrangements of the Education Work Committee of Shandong Provincial Party Committee and Shandong Provincial Department of Education for 2026, the college officially established the Counselor Development Institute, with Han Xiqing and Gong Enlong attending the unveiling ceremony. The institute has built a systematic training framework featuring overall college planning, student affairs leadership, credit-based management and hierarchical training. It has set up special working institutions and gathered high-quality teachers and expert resources both on and off campus.
Adopting a closed-loop training model of “teaching, research, training, competition and evaluation”, the institute has constructed a four-level training system covering the entire career cycle of counselors. It strives to transform counselors from experience-based and administration-oriented workers into research-oriented and expert-based educational mentors.

During the training, a number of experts delivered practical and targeted special lectures. With the theme of Upholding Original Aspirations, Fulfilling Duties and Striving to Be Excellent Counselors in the New Era, President Han Xiqing systematically interpreted the core value of counselor posts, analyzed existing shortcomings in daily work, and clarified goals for future improvement.

Wang Xiaohua, Secretary of the Youth League Committee of the College of Marxism, Shandong Jianzhu University, shared experience in counselor work case writing. She elaborated on the connotation, significance and practical methods of case compilation, helping counselors enhance their educational and scientific research capabilities through standardized case writing.

Professor Li Juan from Shandong University focused on students’ mental health education. She explained the identification of psychological crisis signals, key points of heart-to-heart talks, and hierarchical intervention strategies, providing practical guidance for the scientific prevention and resolution of student psychological crises.
Following the special training sessions, the college held a student work conference for the autumn semester. The conference comprehensively arranged student affairs for the new semester, and specified key tasks concerning campus safety, work style improvement and critical work nodes at the beginning of the semester, ensuring all work tasks are implemented in a detailed, effective and closed-loop manner.

Vice President Gong Enlong summarized the achievements of student work in the spring semester. He pointed out prominent existing problems, including inadequate adaptation of educational concepts, insufficient transformation of practical work experience and lack of driving force for the team’s growth, and required all counselors to face up to deficiencies and take initiative to make breakthroughs. He put forward the work guidelines of sincerity, empathy, pragmatism and dedication to clarify the direction for counselors’ future work. Meanwhile, he called on all counselors to follow the educational principle of having love in heart — loving the educational cause, caring about student growth, being committed to college development and pursuing self-improvement, so as to contribute greater educational strength to the college’s high-quality development and vocational undergraduate program construction.
