The 2026 Annual Academic Conference of the Vocational Education International Exchange Branch under the China Education International Exchange Association convened in Xining, Qinghai Province,on August 7.
President Han Xiqing was invited to attend the conference and deliver a keynote speech. Centered on the theme “Overseas Vocational Education Resources and Co-construction of Standards”, President Han shared the college’s exemplary practices and practical experience in international school-running under the topic of “Demand-oriented Two-way Mutual Learning: Boosting Overseas Vocational Education via Small yet High-quality Programs”.
He pointed out that leveraging the regional strengths of Qingdao as an international city, the college adheres to demand-driven development, delivers two-way empowerment between majors and industries, and highlights its distinctive strengths in hospitality and tourism education. Upholding the philosophy of “Small yet High-quality Programs Benefiting People’s Livelihoods”, the college actively supports the Belt and Road Initiative and China’s national opening-up strategy.
He stressed that going global is an inevitable path for vocational colleges to pursue high-quality development. Aligning with the three core demands of industries, colleges and students, and rooted in the integration of industry and education, the college has rolled out five key initiatives to build its “Small yet High-quality” overseas vocational education brand:
Develop multiple sets of international “Chinese + Vocational” teaching resources and implement them overseas;
Cultivate bilingual professional teachers with international qualifications and overseas study experience;
Build overseas training workshops featuring distinctive Shandong cuisine and tea art;
Conduct two-way cultural and skill exchanges between teachers and students from multiple countries;
Establish internship and employment bases at five-star hotels in Hong Kong and Macao to smooth pathways for overseas employment.
President Han noted that the college has seen a substantial and continuous rise in its comprehensive school-running ranking in recent years with remarkable progress in connotative development. It has won numerous international and national vocational education honors and claimed many awards in international competitions. Its students have achieved outstanding results in skill contests, innovation and entrepreneurship programs, further education and employment.
The college will continue to focus on distinctive education in modern service industries, advance the co-construction of standards and quality improvement, forge an international school-running brand, and steadily elevate its educational influence and outreach capacity.
The annual conference reviewed the branch’s work progress over the past year, arranged work plans for the next stage, and hosted result presentations, experience-sharing sessions and academic seminars revolving around standard guidance and brand building for vocational education going global.
