The 18th Qingdao Vocational Skills Competition for Elevator Installation and Maintenance Workers and the inaugural “Nidec Cup” Elevator Skills Competition were successfully held in the college on July 24.

Co-organized by a number of industrial institutions and the college, the competition attracted 85 skilled professionals from 33 elevator maintenance units across Qingdao, building a platform for technical exchanges and skill improvement through professional competitions. The opening ceremony was hosted in the college’s Academic Lecture Hall.

In his opening speech, Diao Hongbin expressed gratitude for the trust of the organizing units and extended a warm welcome to all contestants and referees. He pointed out that focusing on the development of modern service industries and closely aligning with Qingdao’s industrial layout, the college has formed a distinctive school-running feature of “proficient in technology, intelligent in application and good in management”.

As the only higher vocational college in Qingdao offering the Elevator Engineering Technology major, our college has deeply advanced industry-education integration and adhered to the educational philosophy of “enterprises set questions, schools and enterprises deliver answers jointly, and the market evaluates outcomes”.

The college has yielded fruitful achievements in the formulation of industrial standards, the construction of digital and intelligent training bases, and the joint establishment of outstanding engineer colleges, establishing itself as an important base for talent cultivation and technological innovation in the national elevator industry. He hoped that the competition would inspire practitioners to delve into professional skills and contribute to the construction of Qingdao’s “elevator safety smart city”.

As a pivotal grand event for Qingdao’s elevator industry, the competition marks a milestone as it is held in a vocational college for the first time, serving as a vivid practice of in-depth integration between schools and industries.

Divided into theoretical assessment and practical operation competition, the event comprehensively evaluates contestants’ comprehensive professional capabilities including elevator troubleshooting, installation and commissioning, and emergency disposal. Equipped with an innovative multi-camera real-time live streaming system, the competition fully recorded contestants’ operation details and opened real-time observation for industry practitioners, providing an efficient learning and communication channel and effectively realizing the goal of promoting learning, improving skills and pursuing excellence through competitions.

The hosting of the competition in the college fully demonstrates the high recognition of our industry-education integration schooling model from competent industrial authorities and cooperative units, and further consolidates our advantageous status in talent cultivation and technological innovation for the elevator industry.

Meanwhile, our teachers participated in competition proposition compilation and technical support throughout the event, which effectively improved their practical teaching capabilities. In the follow-up work, the college will integrate competition specifications, practical competition cases and industrial standards into daily teaching, optimize the post-course-competition-certificate integrated talent cultivation system, and continuously cultivate high-quality technical and skilled talents for the elevator industry.
