Han Xiqing, President of the college, extended a warm welcome to all guests and expressed sincere gratitude to government departments, industry associations and enterprises for their strong support. He noted that Shandong Cuisine Craftsman Institute has made remarkable progress in skills competitions, faculty development and social services, and has been listed as a provincially key supported craftsman college. The college will further integrate resources from governments, industries, enterprises and universities to cultivate high-quality culinary talents, build the college into a cradle of Qilu craftsmen and an inheritance and innovation base for Shandong cuisine culture, and boost the high-quality development of the local catering industry.

Ni Daoyu, Director of the Education, Trade and Finance Trade Union of Shandong Province, congratulated the Institute on its official inauguration and put forward four requirements for its future development.

First, adhere to the fundamental task of fostering talents, integrate the spirit of model workers, labor spirit and craftsmanship spirit into the whole talent training process, and cultivate skilled culinary talents with both moral integrity and professional proficiency.

Second, deepen the integration of industry and education, build collaborative education platforms with leading enterprises, and empower industrial upgrading with high-quality talent supply.

Third, uphold innovation while inheriting traditions, integrate authentic Shandong culinary techniques with modern technologies, and help Shandong transform from a major catering province to a strong catering province. Fourth, give play to the exemplary role, summarize replicable experience, and strive to build a first-class craftsman college nationwide.

Hei Weiyu, President of Shandong Hotel Association, was appointed Honorary Dean of the Institute. He stated that the appointment is both an honor and a responsibility. He will give full play to industrial resource advantages, introduce cutting-edge industry information, enterprise practical demands and elite master resources into campus, and participate in curriculum construction, dish research and development, and industry standard formulation. He pledged to promote the inheritance and innovative development of Shandong cuisine, polish the “Friendly Shandong” catering brand, and consolidate school-enterprise collaborative education outcomes.

At the ceremony, Ni Daoyu, Hei Weiyu, Ren Xingben and Han Xiqing jointly unveiled Shandong Cuisine Craftsman Institute. Han Xiqing issued the letter of appointment to Hei Weiyu.

After the unveiling ceremony, guests observed the “Shandong Cuisine Cup” student skills exhibition. More than 530 students majoring in culinary technology and nutrition, Western cuisine cooking and Chinese and Western pastry independently designed and created themed banquets. Adhering to competition standards, adopting characteristic Jiaodong(A historical and geographical region covering the eastern part of the Shandong Peninsula in East China) ingredients and intelligent cooking technologies, students completed exquisite works including hot dishes, cold platter carving, sugar art and pastries, demonstrating solid professional skills, innovative thinking and youthful vitality.

A professional judging panel consisting of senior executive chefs from 10 well-known catering enterprises conducted comprehensive evaluations on banquet design, on-site defense, cooking techniques, exhibition presentation and professional literacy. Finally, 13 first prizes, 19 second prizes and 26 third prizes were awarded.

The event further consolidates the college’s achievements in integrating industry and education and collaborative talent training. It builds a vital platform for talent cultivation, skill display and cultural inheritance, and plays a positive role in innovating the inheritance of Shandong cuisine culture, cultivating high-end culinary talents and promoting the high-quality development of Shandong’s catering industry.
