The college successfully held the final of The Pride of China English Short Video Contest on June 25th, which encouraged students to tell wonderful stories about China, the new era and vocational education in English, and demonstrated the youthful demeanor and innovative vitality of skilled talents.
Launched in May, the two-month contest garnered extensive participation from students across the college. After rigorous preliminary selection, 13 outstanding works advanced to the final. All shortlisted works were displayed on site, centering on the theme of The Pride of China with diverse and rich content.
The works showcase China’s breakthroughs in high-speed rail, aerospace, new energy and other scientific and technological fields, as well as the inheritance of intangible cultural heritage, traditional crafts and folk customs. They also praise the dedication of great craftsmen and ordinary workers.
Featuring exquisite footage, coherent narration and standard English expression, the entries fully demonstrate students’ solid English proficiency, excellent creative ability and profound patriotism. Adopting artificial intelligence technology in creation, students completed AI dubbing, subtitle generation, intelligent editing and special effects production, reflecting their outstanding digital literacy and innovative practical capabilities.
After on-site professional evaluation, Pride in a Cup of Laoshan Tea from the School of Hotel Engineering and The Undying Torch from the School of Hospitality Management won the first prize. The top-ranked work will represent our college in the provincial contest.
As a key initiative to implement the college’s moral education micro-class project of 5-minute Pre-class Education, the contest helps build an all-round moral education atmosphere. It realizes the educational effect of promoting teaching, learning and cultivation through contests, effectively improving students’ English application ability, value recognition and artificial intelligence literacy.
The Basic Teaching Department will further deepen the reform of public basic courses, explore a new integrated education model of foreign language + ideological education + digital literacy, align with the training goals of high-quality technical and skilled talents, and contribute to the high-quality development of the college.
