The hotel reception event (WorldSkills trial selection) of the 18th Qingdao Vocational Skills Competition was successfully held at the college from June 25 to 26. A total of 96 contestants from secondary and vocational colleges across Qingdao competed on site.

Strictly aligned with WorldSkills competition standards, the authoritative event focuses on real industry demands and comprehensively evaluates contestants’ capabilities in Front Desk reception, document processing, task efficiency and comprehensive scenario application. Conducted entirely in English, the competition requires proficient operation of the hotel Property Management System (PMS) and flexible handling of diverse international front-office scenarios to assess participants’ professional literacy and practical skills. Outstanding contestants will be selected to represent Qingdao in the provincial vocational skills competition.

During the event, the School of Hospitality Management adhered to the industry-education integration concept of “enterprise-led proposition, school-enterprise joint cultivation and market-oriented evaluation” to ensure high-standard competition organization. Closely linked to real hotel work scenarios, the competition questions covered core business procedures including check-in service, OTA response and check-out settlement, incorporating emergency handling and personalized service requirements in line with the latest industrial standards. Industry experts participated in pre-competition training, on-site judging and professional comments, bridging curriculum standards with industrial norms. The competition effectively promotes teaching, learning and employment, and enhances students’ professional competitiveness and career identity.

The successful hosting of the competition demonstrates our outstanding event organization capacity and solid professional strength.

The Hotel Management and Digital Operation major will continuously benchmark WorldSkills standards, integrate advanced competition specifications, industrial service criteria and post competency models into daily teaching.

The college will further deepen industry-education integration, optimize the training system for high-quality technical talents, and steadily improve professional education quality and social influence.
