On June 20, the final of the first Chinese Creative Tea Mixing Competition was successfully held at the Qingdao International Convention and Exhibition Center.

Hosted by the Organizing Committee of the 19th Qingdao International Tea Expo, undertaken by our college and co-organized by multiple industry associations, the event marked the first professional competition of its kind in Qingdao.

Focusing on the innovative application of traditional tea culture, the competition built a high-level exchange and competition platform for the industry and universities. It effectively advanced the innovative dissemination of tea culture and the transformation and upgrading of the tea industry, winning wide recognition from all sectors of society.

The competition consisted of individual and team groups, covering two innovative categories: tea-based beverages with a tea base proportion of no less than 50% and tea-infused cocktails with a tea base proportion of no less than 30%. It attracted participants from colleges and universities, tea enterprises, star hotels and boutique homestays. Rooted in traditional tea art techniques and profound tea culture, contestants integrated modern beverage blending skills and aesthetic design to create a series of original Chinese-style tea drinks with rich cultural connotations, layered flavors and exquisite visual presentation, fully demonstrating the innovative vitality and development potential of the new tea beverage industry.

After fierce competition, a number of awards were presented for both individual and team categories, including gold, silver and bronze prizes, excellence awards and the Best Display Award.

Our teachers and students achieved outstanding results, winning one gold and one silver award in the individual competition, as well as one silver and one bronze award in the team competition. The excellent achievements fully reflect our college’s solid professional teaching foundation and fruitful outcomes in cultivating innovative and skilled talents.

As the official undertaker, the School of Hositality Management made overall and meticulous arrangements for the event. It took charge of formulating competition rules, conducting pre-event preparations, arranging venues, organizing on-site procedures and providing supporting services, ensuring the standardized, orderly and efficient operation of the entire competition. Teachers and students gained comprehensive practical experience in large-scale event planning, execution and professional skill transformation, greatly improving their comprehensive competencies.

Adhering to the philosophy of “promoting learning, innovation and industrial development through competitions”, the event serves as a successful integration of traditional tea culture and modern consumption trends. By undertaking the competition, our college further deepened industry-education integration, realized precise alignment between talent cultivation and industrial demands, and injected new vitality into the innovative upgrading of the regional new tea beverage industry.

Our college will summarize event organization experience and deepen multi-dimensional cooperation with local authorities, enterprises and peer universities. It will explore innovative paths for Chinese creative tea mixing in curriculum development, skill certification, product research and industrial services, and continuously provide talent and intellectual support for the high-quality development of the new tea beverage industry and the inheritance and innovation of tea culture in Qingdao and Shandong Province.
