Sir Richard Taylor, Co-founder of Weta Workshop, and Li Lu, Managing Director of Meigu Group, led a delegation to visit the college on June 17. Wang Xuchao, Chairman of Lushang Group, warmly received the guests and presided over a symposium. Jia Qingwen, Deputy General Manager of Lushang Group, and Diao Hongbin, Secretary of the college Party Committee, attended the meeting.
Sir Richard Taylor stated that China’s profound traditional culture provides abundant inspiration for visual creation and that Eastern aesthetics are naturally compatible with Western special effects technologies. The industrial layout of Lushang Group in cultural tourism and education is highly consistent with Weta Workshop’s strengths in digital content creation and immersive experience development, boasting broad prospects for cooperation. He spoke highly of the college’s achievements in intangible cultural heritage (ICH) inheritance and digital innovation, expecting in-depth practical cooperation with the school in curriculum co-construction, creative design and teacher-student exchanges.
Li Lu introduced that Meigu Group has long been committed to the integration of culture and technology. Leveraging its advantages in brand operation and industrial resource integration, the group will promote the implementation of Weta Workshop’s cutting-edge technologies in teaching practice and facilitate the high-quality development of the regional cultural industry.
Wang Xuchao extended a warm welcome to the visiting delegation and introduced the development of Lushang Group and the college. He noted that Lushang Group has long been engaged in retail, cultural tourism, education, health care and other industries. Currently, the Group is accelerating digital transformation and industrial upgrading, which generates an urgent demand for high-end creative talents and cutting-edge digital technologies. He emphasized that the college features distinctive programs in hotel management and digital creativity, laying a solid foundation for international cooperation. Taking this exchange as an opportunity, the group intends to further connect high-quality resources, advance project implementation and achieve mutually beneficial results.
Diao Hongbin pointed out that Weta Workshop’s world-leading advantages in digital creativity and visual arts, together with Meigu Group’s mature experience in brand and industrial operation, are highly compatible with the college’s development orientation. The college looks forward to carrying out in-depth cooperation with both parties, introducing international cutting-edge technical standards and practical projects, and cultivating high-quality technical and skilled talents with a global vision for the cultural and creative industry.

During the symposium, the two sides conducted in-depth discussions on film and television special effects cooperation, digital cultural and creative talent training, and international cultural exchanges, and initially reached a number of cooperation intentions.
During the visit, Sir Richard Taylor and his entourage visited the college’s Qingdao Bobokezi (Pastry Mold) Museum and the K5 Shanhaijian Holographic Folk Custom Exhibition Hall and other training venues. They learned in detail about the college’s teaching practices in ICH inheritance and digital scenario construction, interacted with teachers and students on the digital transformation of intangible cultural heritage skills and immersive experience design, and highly praised the college’s innovative achievements in integrating traditional crafts with modern digital technologies.
