The final review of the 6th Shandong Youth Volunteer Service Project Competition concluded from June 14 to 16. The project Accompanying with Food — Volunteer Service on Elderly Dietary Health submitted by the School of Culinary Arts won a silver award, marking the best performance of the college in this competition to date.
As one of the most authoritative, influential and extensive events in the field of volunteer services in Shandong Province, the competition attracted more than 2,300 outstanding projects from universities, social organizations and youth teams across the province. With rigorous evaluation criteria and fierce competition, the competition comprehensively assessed the innovation, effectiveness, sustainability and social value of participating projects.
Targeting the dietary health needs of elderly residents in communities, the award-winning project addresses prominent problems such as insufficient staff, inadequate meals and unscientific diets in community elderly canteens through standardized and professional volunteer services. It effectively safeguards elderly people’s dietary health, realizes mutual progress between service recipients and volunteers, and has gained wide recognition from local communities.
Adhering to the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, the School Youth League Committee takes volunteer service as a key carrier for ideological and practical education, and has built a diversified, regular and professional practical platform for young students to practice volunteer spirit and improve comprehensive qualities.
The college will further optimize the training system for volunteer projects, cultivate students’ patriotism and sense of responsibility, and promote the standardized, branded and high-quality development of school volunteer service education.
