On April 25, the final of the first Classic Recitation Competition — Telling Shandong Stories in English, Reciting the Elegance of Qilu — concluded at Shandong Normal University.
Zhang Ziyi from the School of Accounting of the college won the second prize in the higher vocational college group, ranking fifth across the province.

Hosted by the Shandong University Library and Information Work Committee, the competition takes English as a bridge, traditional classics as the foundation and innovation as the driving force. It aims to guide college students across Shandong Province to deeply appreciate Qilu culture and express their love for their hometown.
The preliminary round adopted an online reading points system, attracting 4,135 participants from 32 higher vocational colleges in the province. Under the careful guidance of Pu Chunfang from the Basic Education Department, Zhang Ziyi presented her recitation Tell Good Shandong Stories and Inherit Qilu Elegance in the final. She skillfully integrated the Confucian values of benevolence, righteousness, propriety, wisdom and trustworthiness, diverse intangible cultural heritages of Shandong, and the contemporary inheritance of the Yimeng Spirit. With accurate and fluent English recitation, she profoundly expressed her in-depth understanding and cultural identity of Shandong culture.
Taking this achievement as an opportunity, the college library will encourage more students to improve their foreign language proficiency and cultivate cross-cultural communication literacy, injecting vitality into the construction of campus culture.
