The School of Hospitality Management of the college has provided a special training program on star-rating assessment and management improvement for all management staff of Qingdao Huanghai Hotel, focusing on the new version of GB/T 14308-2023 Classification and Accreditation for Star-Rated Tourist Hotels.
This training implements the college’s industry-education integration philosophy of “Enterprises set the tasks, colleges and enterprises solve them together, and the market evaluates the results”. It moves classrooms into enterprises and implements standards on-site, supporting the hotel in improving quality, efficiency and upgrading development with professional intellectual support.
The training was delivered by Wang Guangjian, Vice Dean of the School of Hospitality Management and Provincial Star-Rating Assessor. He systematically interpreted the new norms, requirements and trends of the updated star-rating standard, focusing on core changes in the Mandatory Items Checklist, Facility & Equipment Scoring Form, and Operation Quality Evaluation Form. Key assessment priorities including green and low-carbon development, digital services, safety management and guest experience were clarified, while guidance was provided for the hotel’s preparation for annual review and reassessment.
Based on the hotel’s actual operational pain points, the training adhered to problem-oriented, standard-oriented and improvement-oriented principles, integrating policy requirements, standard provisions and practical skills to ensure participants understand, apply and implement effectively.
At present, the state is vigorously promoting the standardization, branding, green development and smart transformation of the accommodation industry, aiming to improve tourism service quality and expand the cultural and tourism consumption market.
As one of the first National “Double High-Level Plan” Construction Units and a Provincial Double High-Level Construction Unit, the university has always upheld the original mission of vocational education serving local industries. It actively responds to the needs of quality and efficiency improvement in Qingdao’s accommodation industry, leveraging its team of provincial star-rating assessors, industry experts and distinguished teachers to provide local hotels with a full range of intellectual services including standard interpretation, review guidance, management optimization and skill upgrading.
This training is not only a vivid practice of school-enterprise collaborative education, but also a concrete action for vocational colleges to serve frontline enterprises and empower the industry. It effectively helps Qingdao Huanghai Hotel address shortcomings and strengthen strengths in line with the new star-rating standard, further enhancing its operational management and market competitiveness.
