The Launch Ceremony of the Shazikou High-Quality Minsu(China’s characteristic homestays) Industry Training Program and Minsu Research & Innovation Base was held in Shazikou Sub-district, Laoshan District on November 10.
As a provincial-level Minsu cluster, Shazikou boasts ecological resources of Laoshan Scenic Area and coastal landscapes, with over 80 operational homestays. However, it faces transformation bottlenecks in recent years due to outdated management concepts and a shortage of professional talents.
The joint establishment of the Base by the college and the provincial Minsu cluster is a key initiative to deepen college-local cooperation under the industry-driven, college -enterprise co-construction, market-oriented vocational education integration philosophy. It aims to address industry demands, solve operational challenges for local businesses, and boost regional economic development.
The Base will convert real enterprise needs into teaching research projects, forming a dual team of college faculty, industry experts, and Minsu operators. It will build a teaching-research-practice integrated platform, providing customized research (e.g., mountain-coastal homestay product design, local cultural experience development), operational diagnostics, cost control, and service standardization guidance to promote the shift from extensive operation to quality development.
During the event, deans from the School of Hospitality Management were appointed to Shazikou’s Minsu Expert Think Tank. The college will further integrate industry resources, offer regular training, and launch a Minsu Consultation Hotline for specialized services.
The concurrent training program invited over 10 national experts to share insights on industry trends, digital operation tools, short-video marketing, and entrepreneurship policies. Targeting Minsu and single marketing strategies, solutions like Minsu plus tea art, Minsu plus wellness, and private community operation were proposed. Our faculty also delivered well-received theoretical and practical courses.
This initiative injects new momentum into Shazikou’s Minsu development, marking a crucial step in college-local cooperation for Minsu quality improvement and rural revitalization. Future plans include joint talent training bases and entrepreneurship competitions to further align educational resources with local industrial development.
