The first Qingdao “Skill Star” Vocational Skills Competition — Tourism and Cultural Creative Product Design event — took place at the college on September 23.
The event brought together over 80 contestants from across the city to showcase their creativity and technical skills in designing products inspired by Qingdao’s unique culture. Participants were challenged in three areas: graphic visual expression, scenario-based product application, and design documentation.
With a theme of “Star Shines Over the Island City, Skills Create the Future”, the competition focuses on Qingdao’s “10+1” innovative industries and adheres to high international competition standards. It aims to discover young talent, promote vocational education excellence, and support the city’s cultural tourism industry growth.
Diao Hongbin, Secretary of the School’s Party Committee, highlighted the institution’s commitment to skills training and its success in using competitions to enhance teaching quality and student development.
The School of Culture and Tourism plans to deepen industry partnerships and develop more programs to cultivate professionals who can drive innovation in Qingdao’s tourism and cultural creative sectors.
