Two works—Green Habitat and Divine Tree of Nature— created by Xiao Yunyu and Zhao Yaxian under the guidance of Zhou Haiyan and Yang Mukun, were awarded third prizes at the 2nd Qingdao Land Art Season and Garden Waste Creative Competition recently. Both art works have been officially adopted by the Qingdao Municipal Bureau of Landscape and Forestry and have been installed in Zhongshan Park. .
The competition centered on the themes of ecological conservation, recycling, and transforming waste into treasure. And it’s organized by the Qingdao Municipal Bureau of Landscape and Forestry and co-hosted by Qingdao Municipal Park Management Service Center, Qingdao Landscape Architecture Association, and Qingdao Chenfa Group Property Management Company.
Green Habitat, themed around home, emphasizes artistic ecology and practicality. Its design intricately connects with birds' habitats while harmonizing with human living environments. The installation is located west of the fountain at Zhongshan Park's South Gate.
Divine Tree of Nature features a unique concept: its twisted trunk symbolizes nature's power and life's resilience, while the integration of birds and branches reflects the harmony between living beings and nature, conveying reverence for ecological balance. This piece is displayed on the heart island of Xiaoxihu Lake.
The award-winning works have drawn public attention to the creative reuse of garden waste, promoting ecological awareness and practical applications across society. These achievements contribute to the integration of urban ecological development with cultural arts, while providing valuable practical experience for the teaching reforms of Arts School.
