Professor Liu Yinghua is awarded a sub-project of the NSFC 's key projects

According to the recent announcement of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), Professor Zhu Hong, Distinguished Professor of the college, was awarded the 2024 NSFC Key Project for ‘Study on the Formation Process, Mechanisms and Effects of the Critical Zone of Human-Earth Interaction in South China’, and Professor Liu Yinghua was awarded the 2024 NSFC Key Project for ‘Study on the Evolution and Mechanisms of the Critical Zone of Human-Earth Interaction in the South China Sea Islands’ as a sub-project.

This sub-topic aims to deeply investigate the interaction between human and natural environment in a specific area, the evolution process and its multiple effects, and to reveal the evolution law, interaction mechanism, and multiple ecological, economic and social effects of human-land relationship in island areas, which is of great significance for promoting the scientific management and sustainable development of island areas.

The establishment of this sub- project is a major breakthrough for the college in the National Natural Science Foundation of China, which is an important demonstration of the college's scientific research strength and innovation ability.

The college will take this opportunity to further increase the cultivation and support for teachers' scientific research projects, organise high-level academic seminars, workshops and academic exchange activities, build a broader academic platform to help the college 's high-quality development.
