The 9th International Cruise Food Festival

The School of Hospitality Management held the 9th International Cruise Food Festival  of Shandong Guoxin International Cup on April 25th.

This International Cruise Food Festival encourages students to carry out localized innovative design for the special food of the cruise destination countries and guides them to know more about the traditional Chinese food culture by designing the links of researching food, knowing food, making food, appreciating food and tasting food.

The activity is carried out in the form of food tasting competition with delicacy as the medium. In line with the industry standard, the competition draws on catering positions in the cruise industry, combines with the specialty curriculum, and integrates the knowledge of international cruise food culture, cruise tourism routes and cross-cultural communication into practice, so as to innovate products and services.

During the activity, the students of the school-enterprise cooperation class of international cruise ship crew management of class 2023 chose the special diets of the European and American routes, such as Mexican chicken rolls and Italian pizza, combined with the Chinese specialties, such as spring rolls and pies, to create their own ideology classroom by integrating the genes of the traditional Chinese culture, which effectively enhanced their cultural self-confidence and strengthened their professional sense of identity.

After the chef's explanation, food production, dish display, expert tasting, public selection etc., 3 winning teams were finally selected from 10 teams.

Since 2020, the international cruise ship crew management program has been running between the School of Hospitality Management and Shandong Guoxin International Economic and Technical Cooperation Co., Ltd., and the international cruise ship food festival activity has been set up as an important measure of school-enterprise collaborative education. The two sides will continue to enhance the level of cooperation, expand the breadth of cooperation and produce more fruitful results.
