We win first prize in National Vocational Skills Competition

The Beverage Service Event of National Vocational Skills Competition(High Vocational Group) was held at Shenzhen Polytechnic from August 24th to August 28th. The team composed of Sun Xiaoyue and Yang Haoyu won the first prize, while Mao An and Lu Yun were honored as Outstanding Instructors. 

Organized by the Ministry of Education, Guangdong Provincial Department of Education, and Shenzhen Municipal People's Government, the competition introduced a new event in the tourism category. A total of 120 contestants from 60 high vocational colleges across the country participated. 

The competition aimed to assess students' comprehensive qualities and abilities in wine and cocktail service. It was divided into three modules: wine appreciation and table service, cocktail mixology and service, and comprehensive ability assessment. 

Among them, the wine appreciation and table service module included wine tasting, spirits tasting, sparkling wine service, and table service. The cocktail mixology and service module included the creation and service process of two original cocktails. The comprehensive ability assessment included multiple-choice questions, marketing event plan design, and poster design. The assessment content was derived from real job responsibilities of sommeliers and bartenders, with multiple modules and high competition difficulty. 

The college will continue to take the competition as a guidance, fully utilize the role of competition in promoting teaching and learning, and drive the reform of hotel management and digital operation, as well as the education and teaching of wine culture and marketing. This will promote the cultivation of high-quality and skilled beverage professionals to meet the needs of industry development.
