The 17th Tour Guide Service Skills Competition of the Dept. of Culture and Tourism was held in the academic lecture hall on March 27. National model tour guide Mr. Sun Shuwei, Professor Wang Yan of Qingdao Tourism School and other well-known tour guide experts in the industry were invited to work as judges. More than 400 teachers and students of the Dept. of Culture and Tourism watched the competition on the spot.
Mr. Shi Meishan, vice president of the the Dept. of Culture and Tourism, said in his speech that the Competition adheres to the concept of promoting learning and teaching by competition, and combining education and training. As a brand competition activity of the Dept., it has trained dozens of national, provincial and municipal gold medal tour guides over the years. The Competition is integrated into the national tour guide competition rules, which provides a growth platform for students to expand their tour guide skills, enhance their professional knowledge and deepen their awareness of employment. And it also helps them become high-quality tour guide talents with both political integrity and excellent skills.
The Competition is for freshmen and it lasted for two months, fully relying on student associations. The whole process is guided by teachers and planned and operated by student teams. The final was divided into three parts: optional tour guide explanation, on-site creation and explanation of tour guide speech, and talent show. The wonderful performance of 13 contestants made the audience experience the scenery and cultural connotation of the scenic spot. Four students including Liu Shiying, Zhang Chen, Lu Zhe and Dong Xinjie won the first prize and they will be one of the first batch of students to join “Sun Shuwei Guide Master Studio”.
