The 2019 FHC China International Culinary Art Contest was held in Shanghai from November 12 to November 14. The National Youth Chef Team of China, composed of six students from our college, competed with 11 young chefs from different countries and regions, and finally won the gold medal.
FHC China International Culinary Arts Contest is an international contest officially certified by the World Federation of Chefs. In this Contest, more than 600 young chefs from all over the world participated in 25 items, including Culinary Arts, Dessert Baking and International Young Chef Challenge. Among them, the International Young Chef Challenge Contest invited teams from 12 countries and regions. Each team needs to complete the theme buffet for 12 people within the specified time, including finger lickin' good meal, cold meal, salad, hot food and dessert.
In this Contest, Liu Lixin, a teacher of our college, is the general coach of China national youth team, Jiang Yuntao is the coach, and all the members systematically and comprehensively carry out the training. Mr. Alan Orreal, chairman of the Youth Committee of the World Federation of chefs and chief chef of Shanghai Disneyland, is employed as the general consultant of the youth team provided professional guidance for the members. In the Contest, Yu Guangchuan's team excelled in time planning, food design, health and safety, cooking skills, and food presentation. With solid basic skills and team cooperation, they completed the production of all specified dishes with high quality within the fixed time, which got Rick Steven’s good comments, President of the World Food Federation in Asia area. And they finally won the gold medal of the International Young Chef Challenge Contest with the third place in total score.
About the National Youth Chef Team of China
China's national young chef team participated in the Contest is the team set up to prepare for the IKA world Olympic cooking Contest in Stuttgart, Germany in 2020. In June 2019, the National Youth Chef Team of China was established in our college, and the team was composed of students and employees from eight institutions and hotels including our college, Kunming senior technical school, Chongqing Modern Vocational Technical College etc.
