Richard Laroche, director of Institut du Tourisme & d'Hôtellerie du Québec (ITHQ), Canada, Vincent lavioe, a chef teacher, and Sylvie Theriault, a senior consultant, came to visit our college from October 15 to October 17. We carried out a series of discussions and reached fruitful cooperation agreements.
Vice president Wang Jianbao, Zhou Li, director of International Office, and Jiang Yuntao, a teacher of the Dept. of culinary Arts, warmly received the delegation in the conference room of the office building.
Wang Jianbao extended a warm welcome to Canadian guests. He introduced the college's situation and current international exchanges and cooperation. Richard thanked the college for its warm reception, and introduced the background of the friendly cooperation between Quebec and Shandong Province, as well as the basic situation and cooperation intention of ITHQ. The two sides discussed the current market demand of cuisine specialty, the training of international professional and technical talents, the cooperation intention and cooperation development plan of the two schools. Based on the friendly cooperation between Shandong Province and Quebec province, we both hoped to strengthen exchanges in many aspects such as teachers’ visits, Chinese cuisine culture exchanges, and carry out pragmatic, effective, mutually beneficial and win-win cooperation.
During the visit, Richard and his party visited the Dept. of Culinary Arts, the training center of the Dept. of Tourism and Hotel Management and the Cainiao Post Station, and had in-depth discussions with the relevant leaders and teachers. Vincent had face-to-face professional exchanges with the teachers and students of the Dept. of Culinary Arts, which further enhanced the international vision of students. The two sides agreed to send a delegation from our college to Quebec before the end of this year for the exchange and visit, and preliminarily discussed the cooperation plan in 2020. Teachers and students from ITHQ will also be sent to our college for short-term exchange and study.
About The Cooperation Between Shandong Province and Quebec of Canada
Shandong Province and Quebec of Canada established friendly inter-provincial relations on August 6, 2008. The cooperation between the two sides continued to develop, seeking specific ways of cooperation and expanding exchanges between the two provinces. Since 2009, a total of 33 cooperation projects have been funded. Between 2017 and 2019, there are six two-year projects involving environmental, health, information technology and higher education, with the amount of funding reaching $36000. During the sixth project promotion meeting between Shandong and Quebec on July 22, 2019, Quebec and Shandong Province jointly launched 7 projects, among which the cooperation in hotel training and catering field of ITHQ and our college was selected successfully, which is conducive to the technical exchange between the two sides in the field of hotel management and culinary.
