Shen Yajun joins China National Culinary Training Team for 2020 IKA

Lauching Ceremony of China National Culinary Training Team for 2020 IKA”was held at the Chinese National Culinary Team Training Base on March 11. The Chinese Culinary Association will organize a team to participate in the 25th World Olympic Culinary Competition held in Stuttgart, Germany, in 2020. Shen Yajun,a teacher from the Department of the Culinary Arts participated in the Lauching Ceremony as trainees.

In order to prepare for the competition, only 26 elites from the catering industry and related industries were selected from the National Cuisine Training Team in the past year. Under the professional guidance of the coaching group, the training team will conduct 10-month intensive training and practical training, study the rules of international competitions and improve the competence of international competitions.

The participation of young teachers in this national training team is a demonstration of the achievements of our college in cultivating young masters of culinary skills. It helps to improve the influence of our college in the culinary industry, improve the level of teachers'culinary skills, broaden the international horizon of young teachers, and understand the rules and methods of international cooking competitions, so as to better serve the future culinary practice teaching. 

About IKA

IKA was first held in Frankfurt in 1900 by the former German Chef Association. It is recognized as the highest competition in the culinary world by global chefs because of its stringent professional skills and personal fitness requirements. IKA is held every four years. Over the past century, professional chefs and pastry chefs all over the world have won this award as the highest honor of their career. As a member of the World Federation of Chefs in mainland China, according to the regulations of the organizers of the competition, the Chinese Culinary Association is the only industry organization qualified to organize the national team to participate in the team events of the IKA.
